*does human transmutation with homestuck alchemy*

this post is not a joke i’ve been thinking about this for months and i’m POSITIVE sburb would, in theory let players do this.  in this panel, dave proves that players can create parts of themselves by trying to alchemize his own brain in a jar.  his only limitation is lack of grist.  also, the game clearly has no issue with resurrecting the dead (see: god tiers, life ring, aradia, dreamselves) or duplicates of characters (dreamselves again, dirk’s whole arc, (vriska)) or just straight up creating people (ectobiology) so i see no reason why you couldn’t bring back dead players this way, or even more upsetting, create a carbon copy of a living player.  youd just need the right combination of items and an insane amount of grist, and not only would it be possible, but thematically relevant to sburb itself

imagine a fucking alchemiter 3d printing a homunculus

The other thing is that we know from Jane’s modus that there isn’t just one way to make things and, in fact, you can see huge decreases in grist-price with the right combination of items. So, conceivably, with enough research(and a properly hybridized recipe modus; maybe alchemize it with some glasses so you can see recipes without having to captchalogue?) you could clone/reincarnate someone rather cheaply in a number of ways.

I bet there’d be a way to potentially bypass the grist cost completely, too, if you combined the ectobiology lab with an alchemiter. The basic idea would be to take a temporal snapshot of the clonee using the ectobio targeting equipment then, using their ghostslime as the encoding medium, build the clone with the alchemiter. The question is, would this method copy their personality, too, or would you just get a “blank” baby-brain? Since all mental traits are encoded physically onto the brain I’m guessing it would, but there’s a small chance it’d be necessary to include Dave and Dirk’s brainscan hack in the process, if the paradox ghost imprints contain purely genetic information. [EDIT 1]Just realized this is assuming that current physical condition is encoded in the paradox slime and, if it were purely genetic, that wouldn’t be the case. Hmm might need some more jiggering to make it work…

OH WAIT! I just thought of a better method >:]

Ok, so, paradox ghosts are created when you try to appearify something which still needs to interact with the timeline it’s in because if you appearified them, they wouldn’t exist to be interacted with in that tl anymore.

So, if you appearified someone who was dead(and thus no longer interactive), then punchcarded them, then edited their code to remove the injuries which killed them, ala John editing the random items out of the jetpack, then, conceivably, you could either clone or alchemize a living version of them based on that edited code ^u^ ^u^

Even better: if you could figure out a way to image-punchcard people from the appearifier targeting equipment, you might be able to clone them from anypoint in their timeline without paradox risk since you’d be “cloning” them into a tl where they aren’t interactive, without removing them from their current tl ^u^ ^u^ ^u^
